Calculate Page RPM from revenue and pageviews
Calculate Page RPM from estimated revenue and pageviews, or reverse the formula to estimate revenue.
Formula: Revenue / Pageviews x 1,000
How to use the Page RPM calculator
Enter estimated revenue and pageviews to calculate Page RPM. You can also enter a target RPM to see what the same traffic would generate at that rate.
Page RPM formula
Page RPM = Estimated revenue / Pageviews x 1,000. To estimate revenue, reverse it: Pageviews / 1,000 x Page RPM.
Example: $500 revenue from 100,000 pageviews
A site earning $500 from 100,000 pageviews has a $5 Page RPM. The same 100,000 pageviews at a $10 RPM would mathematically estimate to $1,000.
Planning examples
These examples are mathematical scenarios designed to help with planning. They are not claims about typical market performance.
| Pageviews | $2 RPM | $5 RPM | $10 RPM | $20 RPM |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10,000 | $20 | $50 | $100 | $200 |
| 50,000 | $100 | $250 | $500 | $1,000 |
| 100,000 | $200 | $500 | $1,000 | $2,000 |
| 500,000 | $1,000 | $2,500 | $5,000 | $10,000 |
| 1,000,000 | $2,000 | $5,000 | $10,000 | $20,000 |
How to interpret Page RPM
RPM is a normalized revenue metric, not a guaranteed market rate. Geography, user intent, ad demand, viewability, seasonality and content type can all change the real RPM of a site.
Frequently asked questions
Is Page RPM the same as CPM?
No. Page RPM is publisher revenue per 1,000 pageviews, while CPM usually refers to cost or revenue per 1,000 ad impressions depending on context.
Can Page RPM be higher than ad CPM?
They measure different denominators, so direct comparisons can be misleading.
Should I use an average internet RPM?
Your own historical data is more useful for forecasting than a generic average.
Can I use this calculator for non-AdSense ads?
Yes, as long as you are working with revenue and pageviews.
