Krispy Kreme Friends doughnuts only in the UK

Krispy Kreme is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the beloved ’90s sitcom “Friends” with a new line of specialty doughnuts. However, the exclusive release has sparked disappointment among American fans as these doughnuts are only available in the U.K.

Limited Release Sparks Backlash
On Monday, Krispy Kreme announced its limited edition “Friends”-inspired doughnuts with an enthusiastic news release titled: “COULD WE ‘BE’ ANY MORE EXCITED?!?!”

“Each doughnut is a tribute to one of the most iconic TV shows, inspired by fan-favorite characters and episodes,” the announcement stated.

In a playful nod to Joey’s iconic line, “Joey doesn’t share food,” Krispy Kreme conducted a survey revealing that people tend to be particularly protective of their doughnuts.

U.S. Fans React with Disappointment

“Friends” enthusiasts and Krispy Kreme fans in the U.S. are frustrated that the North Carolina-based company chose to release the anniversary treats exclusively in the U.K. Many have expressed their confusion and disappointment on social media.

“This is where I am just confused by the decision-making process,” commented one user on Instagram. “Friends was a huge US show (I know it is big internationally as well, but come on), yet this is a UK thing.”

Another user questioned, “Why wouldn’t this very American phenomenon be released in America?” A more succinct comment read: “UK? Bruh why not NY.”

Some American fans found humor in the situation, with one noting, “UK? But that’s where Ross met Emily! And Monica and Chandler started being more than friends and doing laundry!”

In contrast, U.K. fans are excited and are planning trips to their nearest Krispy Kreme locations to indulge in the nostalgic treats.

While American fans might feel left out, they recently enjoyed the Dolly Parton doughnut line and are eagerly awaiting potential future collaborations, such as one themed around “Inside Out 2.”

Krispy Kreme “Friends” 30th-Anniversary Doughnut Flavors

The new doughnuts are inspired by memorable episodes and moments from “Friends,” featuring clever names and designs that fans will instantly recognize:

  • “Friends”: An original glazed doughnut topped with chocolate icing, sprinkles, and a white chocolate “Friends” logo topper.
  • “How You Doin’?”: A classic ring doughnut dipped in purple icing with mango and passionfruit frosting, referencing Joey’s catchphrase and the iconic door peephole from Monica’s apartment.
  • “We Were on a Coffee Break”: A glazed doughnut topped with caffè latte flavor icing, chocolate swirl, frosting, and a white chocolate topper, nodding to Ross’ famous line and the Central Perk coffee shop.
  • “Trifle”: A strawberry and custard-filled doughnut topped with chocolate curls and green sprinkles, inspired by Rachel’s disastrous Thanksgiving dessert.

What’s Next for U.S. Fans?

While U.S. fans are currently unable to enjoy the “Friends” doughnuts, they remain hopeful for future exclusive releases. With the success of themed doughnuts, Krispy Kreme is likely to continue creating special editions that resonate with fans of popular culture.

For now, U.S. doughnut lovers will have to wait and see what Krispy Kreme has in store next. Stay tuned for more updates and potential new collaborations that could bring another round of exciting treats to American shores.
