Video : Cleanup underway after Amsterdam TRAIN derailment
All Amtrak tracks from Amsterdam to Schenectady were closed due to train derailment. Investigators said Highway 5 in Amsterdam was also closed in the area and could remain closed until late Saturday or early Sunday.
The derailment happened shortly after 8 a.m. Friday. It was a train from Selkirk to Buffalo. According to CSX, 13 of the 157 carriages derailed. Nine of them are empty vans.
