Man Found Dead After Allegedly Killing Ex-Girlfriend in KZN: Investigation Underway

A man from KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) has been found dead after being accused of murdering his former girlfriend, allegedly because she intended to leave him after receiving a payout from the Road Accident Fund (RAF). The man’s body was discovered on Wednesday morning, raising further questions in an ongoing investigation.

According to KZN police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the 25-year-old suspect’s body was discovered hanging from a tree in the Malangeni area of Umzinto, not far from where the crime was committed.

Details of the Murder Incident

Colonel Netshiunda explained that police received reports of a murder at a gravel road in Malangeni, Umzinto. Upon arrival, officers found the body of a 25-year-old woman, whose name has not been released. The victim was lying in the middle of the road with multiple stab wounds, and a broken knife was located near her body.

It is believed the suspect, identified as Lawrence, had picked up his girlfriend from her home, and a domestic dispute between the two quickly escalated into a violent attack. Police suspect the altercation led to the fatal stabbing.

The Aftermath and Police Response

The suspect’s vehicle was found abandoned down the road from where the woman’s body was discovered. Blood stains were found on the front passenger seat, suggesting that the murder occurred inside the vehicle. Following the discovery, police launched an intensive manhunt.

The search culminated in the discovery of Lawrence’s body in a nearby area, where it is believed he took his own life. Authorities suspect suicide, but the investigation continues.

Investigation and Next Steps

Colonel Netshiunda confirmed that a murder investigation is underway, and an inquest docket will be opened for further examination. Authorities are working to gather more details surrounding the tragic events.

This case underscores the alarming issue of domestic violence and the consequences of unresolved conflicts. As the investigation continues, KZN police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in resolving this case.
