Philippines Powerful 7.2-magnitude earthquake today video




The German Geoscience Research Center announced that a magnitude 7.2 earthquake occurred in the Mindanao region of the Philippines on Friday.

According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, there was no immediate threat of a tsunami from the offshore earthquake.
The earthquake occurred at around 4:14 pm local time in Sarangani, Davao Occidental at a depth of 10 km.
It further added: “However, an earthquake of this magnitude can cause abnormal sea level fluctuations, which may be observed on the coast near the epicenter in Davao Occidental.

According to a passenger named Michael Ricafort who was traveling to Manila, passengers waiting for flights at the General Santos City Airport evacuated to the tarmac after the earthquake.
The Philippines is prone to earthquakes as it is located on the Pacific Rim of Volcanics, a horseshoe-shaped region of the Pacific Basin known for high levels of seismic and volcanic activity.
In June this year, a magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck the Philippines.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 124 km, about a three-hour drive from the capital Manila.
