Instagram: you can watch the stories on your computer
Instagram is a social network app first: the application is the number one priority, the development of Instagram on the mobile web and on the web desktop comes well after. As a result, Instagram’s web version is relatively poor when compared to the app. But the differences between these two versions fade today, with the arrival of stories on the web version of Instagram.
The stories on the Instagram web version
Now you can access the stories of Instagram accounts you follow from any browser, even on desktop. The stories are referenced on the right. They remain fixed at the top of the screen, even when you scroller. As with the app, you can watch a user’s story, or click “Watch All” to see all recently published photos and videos
View stories on the web :
The stories are displayed in large on the screen. As on the app, you will move on to the next or previous photo or video, thanks to an arrow. However, you can not move to the story of another account, as allowed by the application (in swiping). You can pause a story with a single click. But do not expect to download a story with a single right click, the feature is disabled. You can access images and videos by searching the source code (CTRL + U) and searching for “JPG” or “MP4”, but this is tedious.
The stories on the web version of Instagram are still limited:
- You can not publish in your Instagram story on the web.
- You can not see a user’s story on his profile.
On the other hand, Instagram now allows you to publish stories from a mobile browser. You no longer need the application, but it is still advisable to have a better experience. The trick of making Instagram believe that you’re using a mobile phone while it’s a PC (changing User-Agent) does not work because the social network is asking you to “rotate your device” to add content to your story.
