An aircraft with the callsign VATOZ21 was spotted on Flightradar24 on September 25, 2025, flying over the waters off the island of Crete. Flight data showed the plane cruising at an altitude of 27,000 feet and a ground speed of around 200 knots.

The Israeli aircraft drew attention for its unusual flight path, performing several tight circles in a restricted area. Such maneuvers suggest surveillance operations or close monitoring of nearby maritime activity.

This comes as the vessel Free Willy prepares to join the Global Sumud Flotilla, an international convoy that recently came under drone attack while attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and challenge Israel’s naval blockade.

The presence of VATOZ21 in the same airspace strongly suggests that Israeli forces are monitoring the flotilla’s progress in the eastern Mediterranean. No official comment has been made by Israeli authorities.
