key bridge collapse video
Early Tuesday morning, the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, collapsed following a collision with a large container boat. Reports indicated that around 1:40 a.m., a sizable vessel struck a column in the central section of the bridge, which carries both north and southbound lanes of Interstate 695. The collision ignited a fire and resulted in multiple vehicles plunging into the Patapsco River below.
According to Baltimore City Fire spokesman Kevin Cartwright, at least seven vehicles, including at least one tractor-trailer-sized vehicle, fell into the water. Petty Officer Matthew West from the Coast Guard in Baltimore informed WTOP that a container ship bearing a Singapore flag, named “Dali,” was responsible for the collision. The vessel was en route from Baltimore to Colombo, Sri Lanka, as per Marine Traffic and Vessel Finder maps and data.
